Walking Above

This sermon explores the profound truth that obedience to God sometimes leads us directly into storms, not away from them. Through the story of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14:22-33, we discover that the disciples found themselves battling waves precisely because they followed Jesus' instructions. This message challenges our assumptions about faith and difficulty, revealing that storms aren't always consequences of disobedience but opportunities for transformation. The real breakthrough comes when we understand that Jesus doesn't calm our storms first—He calms us first. Through His word, He addresses the fear, doubt, and unbelief in our hearts before dealing with our circumstances. Peter's supernatural walk on water wasn't about self-confidence or emotional impulse; it was about hearing one simple word from God: come. When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and His word rather than our problems, we too can walk above impossible situations. The storm only ceased when Jesus entered the boat, teaching us that God's abiding presence is what ultimately brings peace. This isn't just about surviving difficulties—it's about discovering that in our weakness, God's strength is perfected, and through our darkest moments, we come to truly know Him as the Son of God.
